Dallas Mavericks

Cleveland Cavaliers Receive: G Spencer Dinwiddie, 2025 First-Round Pick (DAL)
Dallas Mavericks Receive: G Collin Sexton

On the other hand, if we were the Mavericks, we’d rather give up Dinwiddie. He’s a ball-dominant guard in his own right and keeping Hardaway Jr. makes more sense for a team that’s about to roster Sexton and Luka Doncic.

Basically, we think the Cavs and Mavs should swap Sexton and that 2025 first-rounder. They can haggle over which veteran’s contract will make the money work.

Denver Nuggets

Houston Rockets Receive: G Davon Reid, 2026 Second-Round Pick (DEN)
Denver Nuggets Receive: C Boban Marjanovic

Not exactly the blockbuster of the summer, this one.

That’s fine. The Nuggets will mostly be banking on internal improvement through the returns of Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. They could still tinker. They signed Deandre Jordan to be their backup big man this summer. We think they could do a little better. Following this deal, they’ll at least have a platoon to support reigning MVP Nikola Jokic.

Detroit Pistons

Los Angeles Lakers Receive: F/C Kelly Olynyk
Detroit Pistons Receive: G/F Talen Horton-Tucker

The Pistons’ vision for their rebuild is starting to take shape. They’ve got enough potential cornerstones to justify keeping their veterans and shooting for the play-in tournament next season.

With that said, the 2023 draft has the potential to be historic. One more year of losing may be logical for this team. In this trade, they flip a win-now veteran to take a flyer on Horton-Tucker. If the Lakers can’t find a trade for Russell Westbrook, landing a stretch five in Olynyk will go a long way towards alleviating their spacing concerns.

Golden State Warriors

Chicago Bulls Receive: C James Wiseman, 2023 First-Round Pick (Lottery Protected – GSW)
Golden State Warriors Receive: G Alex Caruso

We’ll be completely honest: we’re proud of this one. It’s original, and it benefits both sides.

Now that we’re done patting ourselves on the back, let’s look at the trade. The Warriors replace Gary Payton II’s brand of relentless, energetic defense by acquiring Caruso. The Bulls take a risk in losing him, but if Wiseman has a breakout season, they’ll make up the rim protection they were missing in 2021-22. They also land a first-rounder as compensation for taking on a high-risk prospect like Wiseman.

Houston Rockets

Los Angeles Lakers Receive: G/F Eric Gordon
Houston Rockets Receive: G/F Talen Horton-Tucker, G Kendrick Nunn, F Stanley Johnson, 2027 First-Round Pick (LAL)

By contrast, there’s nothing creative at play here. Plenty of outlets have assembled this exact package. It just happens to make sense. The Lakers need floor-spacers, and Gordon remains one of the league’s best. Meanwhile, the Rockets value draft capital over all else in any transaction. This deal gets both sides what they need.

Indiana Pacers

LA Clippers Receive: C Myles Turner
Indiana Pacers Receive: F/C Marcus Morris, G/F Brandon Boston Jr., 2029 First-Round Pick (LAC)

Can you imagine if Myles Turner doesn’t get traded this year?

The writing has been on the wall for so long that Pacers fans could recite it in their sleep. In this deal, Indiana lands a young player with an outside shot at stardom in Boston Jr. He’s an athletic, dynamic scorer who’d benefit from landing on a squad that’s more focused on development. Along with a first-round pick, that’s the most they could hope for in return for Turner.
