Why The Los Angeles Lakers Do The Deal
The Los Angeles Lakers are in no position to worry about Talen Horton-Tucker’s potential. By the time he reaches it, LeBron James will likely be retired.
The Lakers exist in the here-and-now. By that logic, acquiring Terry Rozier makes perfect sense. Unlike THT, he’s ready to contribute today.
At 28, Rozier is squarely in his prime. He’s a high-end scoring guard who provides a semblance of playmaking. Most significantly, he’s a reliable floor-spacer.
In other words, he’s a better fit alongside James than Russell Westbrook. We all saw how his inconsistency in three-point shooting impacted the Lakers last season. Ideally, the Lakers move Westbrook in a separate transaction after completing this deal.
