Donovan Mitchell

The Utah Jazz has acquired a ton of draft picks the last few days by trading away Rudy Gobert and Royce O’Neale. It has been reported that those assets will be used to rebuild the roster around Donovan Mitchell, but some analysts are not sold, which is why Mitchell lands on this list at No. 3.

Donovan Mitchell has been a popular name in trade rumors for a few months since it leaked that he would like to land with the Miami Heat or New York Knicks should he request a trade. While no request has been made yet, where there is smoke, there is usually fire.

Many believe it is only a matter of time until Donovan Mitchell is asking out of Utah and it very well could come as soon as this offseason. The Jazz is building a nice war chest of draft capital, but that isn’t going to help Mitchell and the team win games on the court this season.

With how the roster is currently constructed, especially without Gobert manning the middle, Mitchell may not want to stick around. Unless they can swing a deal for another All-Star to pair with him, a trade request could very well be on the horizon.

The Jazz did well with the trade package from the Minnesota Timberwolves for Gobert and would be able to do just as well with Donovan Mitchell, who is more than four years younger and better fits the mold of what NBA teams are looking for to build their rosters around.
