Oklahoma City Thunder
If there is ever a trade that needs a third team to help facilitate it, the Oklahoma City Thunder are always happy to oblige. They are willing to take back any contract as long as there is draft compensation attached to it.
If the Nets have to move on from Simmons to get a deal done, the Thunder should be on the phone willing and able to help get the deal done. Any draft picks that are included as part of the team, could look to get a piece for taking on Simmons.
For Simmons, this could be one of the better landing spots for him. Getting out of the spotlight for a little while as he regains his footing in the league would make a lot of sense. He was not in a good place mentally so going to a team that doesn’t have a huge media presence could benefit him.
On the court, he would make for an intriguing building block alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Josh Giddey, and No. 2 overall pick, Chet Holmgren.

There is enough ball-handling and playmaking there that Simmons could be deployed as a roll man and rim runner. Holmgren is a good fit as a floor-stretching big around Simmons as well.
Eventually, the Oklahoma City Thunder are going to have to turn those draft assets into things that can help them win on the court. Even if they have to surrender a pick or two for Simmons, it is worth the risk for them given the upside that he possesses.
