Philadelphia 76ers Receive: F Harrison Barnes, C Richaun Holmes
Sacramento Kings Receive: F Tobias Harris
Parity may be hard to come by in the NBA, but precisely fair pay for every player is outright impossible.
Some players, relative to the market, will be overpaid. Some will be under-compensated. Sometimes, a player breaks out in a contract year. Other times, they do so early into a smaller contract. Nobody can blame these young men for taking the money they’re offered.
Having said that, Tobias Harris probably qualifies as overpaid. He’s owed $37.6 million in each of the next two seasons. That’s star money, and Harris only gives you starter production.
He’s still a productive NBA player. Meanwhile, with a strong incentive to reach the playoffs, the Kings can’t afford to worry about overpaying quality pieces.
