D’Angelo Russell
If D’Angelo Russell was a perfect option, rumors wouldn’t have him available for trade. He isn’t, but behind Luka Doncic, he might be enough for these Dallas Mavericks.
In this year’s playoffs, Russell laid an egg for the Timberwolves. His subpar performance may have been the primary explanatory factor as to why this team lost in the first round of the playoffs.
Nonetheless, D’Angelo Russell remains a talented point guard. Furthermore, he’d be the recipient of less defensive attention alongside Doncic. Granted, the Timberwolves roster both Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards. As gifted as they both are, neither is the generational offensive talent that Doncic is.
That’s because, realistically, almost nobody is. The term “generational” can get thrown around, but it applies literally to Doncic’s offensive abilities.

D’Angelo Russell may not be perfect, but alongside a player of Doncic’s magnitude, he might be exactly right.
