Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers don’t have a specific need for a Terry Rozier type. They need talent, period. After one of the most disappointing NBA seasons in recent memory, they can’t spare any expenses in improving this team ahead of 2022-23.

They may have a realistic shot at landing Rozier. Again, the Hornets need to clear long-term cap space. With three years remaining on Rozier’s deal, they may be willing to part with him in exchange for Russell Westbrook’s expiring pact and a first-round pick.

If they were, it would greatly benefit the Lakers. Rozier is by far a more suitable fit to play alongside LeBron James. Basically, it boils down to the fact that Rozier can shoot.

Who’d have thought that would be significant in basketball?

The Lakers are an organization that’s accustomed to landing big fish. They may have been hoping for a more substantial acquisition than Rozier this summer. If, as appears likely, one isn’t in the cards, trading for him should still make them better next season.
