Detroit Pistons Receive: G/F Duncan Robinson, G Tyler Herro
Miami Heat Receive: F Jerami Grant
The astute reader will quickly interpret this deal. Yes, it is effectively a Herro-for-Grant swap.
Duncan Robinson looked worth every penny of the $16.9 million annual salaries the Heat awarded him a couple of seasons ago. With new information comes new evaluations. By now, the contract looks like a regretable decision.
After all, the Heat determined that Robinson was unplayable in the 2021-22 playoffs. His defense was that poor. Now, they’d be happy to use him to match salaries in a trade.
This deal has them doing exactly that. Of course, that’s not all they’re doing. They’d also be moving on from the reigning Sixth Man of the Year and a potential cornerstone in Tyler Herro.
