The New York Knicks are a team that is looking to shake up their roster this NBA offseason. There have been wide-ranging rumors about the direction the franchise could go in as they have the assets to pull off a big trade should the opportunity arise to make one.

New York has compiled quite a collection of solid young players that provide hope for the future. Headlined by RJ Barrett, the team also has Obi Toppin, Immanuel Quickley, Quentin Grimes, Jericho Sims, and Deuce McBride that they have drafted in recent years. Another intriguing young player on the roster is Cam Reddish.

Reddish was acquired last season by the Knicks from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Kevin Knox and a future first-round pick via the Charlotte Hornets. He was the 10th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft and was seeking more playing time than the Hawks were able to provide him with, so he requested a trade.

In New York, that playing time was difficult to come by. It took a little while for Reddish to break into the rotation as rumors swirled that he wasn’t someone head coach Tom Thibodeau wanted to add to the rotation but the front office wanted to see him play.

Injuries occurred and Reddish eventually got his chance to play. He showed some positive flashes, but an injury against the Sacramento Kings on March 7th ended his season prematurely.

He is eligible for a contract extension this offseason, but it is hard to imagine one being worked out as the New York Knicks haven’t seen enough of him yet. But, the fact still remains that he has tantalizing potential, which other teams around the league see as well.

Reddish is one of the many Knicks that the team is fielding trade calls about. NBA Analysis Network’s own Evan Massey shared the update, as the Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets are two teams to keep an eye on as Reddish suitors.

Phoenix could use some more help on the wing this upcoming season as there have been some rumors floating around that Cameron Johnson could be on the move. But, that could very well be a roundabout way for the Phoenix Suns to tell teams interested in Deandre Ayton which prospects they like should a sign-and-trade occur during free agency.

The Rockets are in the asset collection mode of their rebuild. Adding a young, high-upside wing in Reddish would make a lot of sense for them as he would fit their timeline and be afforded the playing time that he is seeking.

The Houston Rockets have the No. 17 and 26th overall picks which could be included in a deal for Cam Reddish. That would give the New York Knicks a little extra ammunition in their quest to move up the draft board in hopes of landing Purdue guard Jaden Ivey.
