Indiana Pacers receive: G Derrick White, G/F Aaron Nesmith, 2023 First-Round Pick (BOS)

Boston Celtics receive: G Malcolm Brogdon

Unfortunately for the Boston Celtics, it’s nearly impossible to orchestrate a trade for Brogdon that doesn’t involve Derrick White.

We can assume that they won’t part with the similarly compensated Marcus Smart. He’s woven into this team’s fabric by now. It’s fair to say that, given his knowledge of the team, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year has more value to Boston than Brogdon could by now.

White is simply the odd man out. The Pacers, as a rebuilding club, may not be interested in him either. They’re doing this deal for Nesmith and a first-round pick.

With that said, that may not be a fitting price for Brogdon either. Many expect them to use the floor general to move up in this year’s draft. If, for example, the Wizards were willing to part with the ninth pick in exchange for Brogdon, this isn’t a competitive offer.
