The Boston Celtics are really close to being a championship team. The Jaylen Brown experience was a volatile one for the Cs. At times, he seemingly forgot how to dribble while other times, he was scoring 30+ as a co-star. Kevin Durant would be a more consistent threat.

This group has gotten as far as the Conference Finals before. If they feel they’ve reached a ceiling and need to explore new routes, this would be an interesting one to take.

For the Celtics, this deal would be an all-in bet on the present. A duo of Durant and Jayson Tatum should be unstoppable in 2022-23. As in, more unstoppable than the duo of Tatum and Brown already are.

Parting with Brown wouldn’t be easy. This Celtics team is “built, not bought” construction is likely something their front office takes pride in.
