Charlotte Hornets Receive: C Myles Turner
Indiana Pacers Receive: F Kelly Oubre Jr., C Mason Plumlee, No. 15 Overall Pick
This trade package could very well be what we see should the Charlotte Hornets be able to acquire Myles Turner from the Indiana Pacers. While all situations are different, the trade between the Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets, centered around Christian Wood, was used as a baseline for this deal.
Like Wood, Turner is on an expiring contract. So, similarly to that deal, the Hornets aren’t sending any long-term money back to the Pacers. Kelly Oubre Jr. and Mason Plumlee are both on expiring deals and depending on when this deal is consummated, the Pacers can waive Plumlee and save some money.
Only 26 years old, Oubre is someone that could fit the timeline that Indiana is working with. He is only a year older than Chris Duarte despite entering his eighth season in the NBA. Plumlee, should he be held onto, provides Indiana with some veteran insurance in the frontcourt.
Just like for Houston, the draft pick is what the Pacers are focused on. While the 26th overall pick headed to the Rockets, Indiana is getting the 15th overall selection. That seems like a fair difference given the fact that Turner is an elite rim protector, which should be worth more than the added scoring punch Wood provides.

With two first-round picks, Indiana can be aggressive and try making a jump up the draft board. If not, they now get two bites at the apple and add two more young, building blocks to the roster.
