It’ll take nothing less to wrestle Damian Lillard from the Trail Blazers. This might not even do the trick. It feels as if the organization is committed to “going down with the ship”, for better or for worse.
There’s some admirability in that. The same goes for Lillard’s apparent commitment to the same cause. In an era defined by player movement, it’s nice to see a star player stand pat, for better or for worse.
Only, it feels like it’s for worse in this case. It is simply difficult to envision the Blazers winning a championship in the 31-year-old Lillard’s remaining years.
