Why The Cleveland Cavaliers Do The Deal
In a word, yes. This deal is likely to make the Cleveland Cavaliers a better team in 2022-23.
Part of the appeal with Sexton lies in his upside. That’s not so with Brogdon: he is a fully actualized NBA player. He’s probably not getting much better, but the Cavaliers wouldn’t need him to.
Furthermore, the Cavaliers had the success they did without Sexton last year. From that perspective, they’re adding something for nothing. Questions about the fit between Sexon and Darius Garland have been prevalent for a couple of years.
They won’t exist with Brogdon. Like Haliburton, he’s a star-caliber talent who’s capable of a complementary role. He’ll take over playmaking duties when needed, but also willingly cede to Garland.
