Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal
The Miami Heat’s logic is fairly simple in this case. They’re acquiring the best player involved in the trade.
Kevin Love had a bounce-back season in 2021-22. In fact, he garnered serious Sixth Man of the Year consideration. Furthermore, on paper, he fits like a glove on this Heat squad.
If there’s a hole in Love’s game, it’s defense. Luckily, Bam Adebayo is tailor-made to cover for his deficiencies. Adding his floor-spacing, passing vision and rebounding will be well worth the trade-off for this Heat team.
They will miss Tucker. His defensive intensity is hard to replicate. On the other hand, if they can make up 75% of it in free agency while adding Love, it’ll be worthwhile. Three-and-D wings are abundantly available in 2022, even if most don’t play with the same vigor as Tucker.
