Houston Rockets Receive: G Landry Shamet, F/C Dario Saric, 2024 First-Round Pick (Lottery Protected), 2023 Second-Round Pick
Phoenix Suns Receive: G Eric Gordon

The Houston Rockets are in the midst of a long-term rebuilding effort. Adding a future asset should be an appealing option for them in a trade that moves Eric Gordon.

Landry Shamet’s contract is looking rough for the Suns. He’s set to earn $9.5 million next season after coming off a season with averages of 8.3 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.6 assists. Moving on from him would be a helpful outcome for Phoenix.

Dennis Schroder is set to be a free agent and could be moved in a sign-and-trade. If that happens, the Rockets could utilize Shamet as a bench contributor to help rehabilitate his trade value.

Dario Saric would be included purely for financial reasons. He’s coming off a torn ACL injury that caused him to miss the entire 2021-22 season. He also recently underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair meniscus in his right knee — the same knee as his torn ACL.

Saric is entering the final year of his current contract and seems like a logical buyout candidate if he were to be included a trade that lands him in Houston.
