The Utah Jazz is going to look a lot different during the 2022-23 season than they did when the Dallas Mavericks eliminated them from the 2022 NBA Postseason in the first round. Head coach Quin Snyder has already moved on, and the roster is going to look a lot different as well.
It sounds as if the front office is ready to break up the All-Star duo of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, as their relationship on and off the court is beyond repair. While some Jazz fans will be happy that it sounds as if Mitchell will be staying in Salt Lake City, he may not be here for the long term.
As Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN shared, Mitchell was left feeling unsettled about the situation. With some reading between the lines, it can be deciphered as CAA doing some posturing.
Andy Larsen broke it down on his Twitter account. Mitchell and Wojnarowski are both represented by that agency, as is Johnnie Bryant, the New York Knicks assistant coach that developed a strong bond with Mitchell during their time together in Utah.

If it helps the Utah Jazz turn things around in the postseason, fans won’t care. But, there is still the issue of Mitchell remaining with the organization long-term. According to Matt Moore of Action Network, league sources still believe that Mitchell’s trade request will come sooner than later regardless of how things unfold with the coaching search.
“As far as the idea of a Mitchell trade coming down the pike, league sources do feel that it’s a matter of “when and not if” with Mitchell eventually asking to go to a “glamour market” like New York or Miami. But in the short term, there’s skepticism it will happen.”
Well, that certainly isn’t something that will excite the fan base. Donovan Mitchell sounds like he is going to be given everything that he wants this offseason, yet the chance that he asks for a trade seemingly still remains high.

If that request comes this offseason, the Miami Heat are the likeliest landing spot. If he waits, the New York Knicks could become the more attractive landing spot, especially if their young core continues to blossom and they turn into a perennial playoff contender.
