With the start of the NBA offseason right around the corner, one team most will have their eyes on is the Utah Jazz. After another postseason run falling short, they are the next team expected to make some major changes.
Multiple reports have already brought up the idea of Utah splitting up its All-Star duo of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert. While he is a multi-time Defensive Player of the Year winner, Mitchell is likely to garner the bigger market if he is made available via trade.
At 25-years-old, he is on the cusp of entering his prime season. Not to mention Mitchell is under contract for the next three years. In 67 games for the Jazz this season, he averaged 25.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 5.3 assists.
Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report brought up this situation in his latest news dump and cited the Miami Heat as a potential landing spot for Donovan Mitchell over the New York Knicks. Following their exit in the Eastern Conference finals, they are sure to be in the mix to make some upgrades.
“There’s healthy skepticism around the NBA that New York’s best offer for Mitchell would trump other teams’ pursuits, such as a potential package from Miami that would theoretically center around Tyler Herro plus other salary and multiple first-round picks.”

If Utah is looking to add pieces that can contribute right away, Miami makes a lot of sense as a trade partner. Duncan Robinson fits their modern style of play, and his contract helps from a financial standpoint.
Tyler Herro would likely be the centerpiece of the deal as the Sixth Man of the Year winner could be a building block for the next phase of the franchise. His inclusion in a deal makes their offer more appealing than what the New York Knicks could put together.
