Making the Case: Utah Jazz
This trade would only happen if the Utah Jazz intended to retain Donovan Mitchell and retool around him. Based on the latest NBA trade rumors, it appears that’s where the situation is trending.
Spencer Dinwiddie would form half of the league’s newest and one of its most lethal backcourts. In a starting role again, Dinwiddie should be able to establish a much better rhythm in Utah and remind fans of his true potential as a scorer and playmaker.
Dwight Powell gives Spida a new pick-and-roll screener who’s significantly less demanding compared to his diva of an ex-costar. Tim Hardaway Jr., Josh Green, and Reggie Bullock provide wing depth and shooting for a team that was sorely lacking those things in their first-round playoff exit earlier this season.
Utah also adds two first-round picks to help retool and improve their team that’s newly centered and reinvigorated around Donovan Mitchell and the pieces they got in return for Rudy Gobert.

Getting off of Mike Conley makes the Jazz younger and clears up their checkbook, giving them the flexibility necessary to determine how to best build around Spida.
If the Jazz mean to keep Donovan Mitchell and field a competitive roster around him, they’ll be hard-pressed to find a better deal than this one.
