Utah Jazz Receive: C Mitchell Robinson (via sign-and-trade), G Alec Burks, G/F Evan Fournier, 2023 First-Round Pick (Top-10 Protected, DAL)
New York Knicks Receive: C Rudy Gobert
If the Utah Jazz find themselves hosting a firesale this summer, swapping Rudy Gobert out for Mitchell Robinson would be wise.
That’s mainly due to their age discrepancy. Robinson is 24, while Gobert is 29. With some polishing, Robinson may be able to replicate a large percentage of the rim-running and rim-protecting that Gobert does.
Of course, that’s an ambitious goal for any young NBA big. It’s fair to say that Robinson, like most NBA players, will probably never win 3 Defensive Player of the Year awards. That’s why the Jazz are getting a protected first-rounder in addition to Robinson.
Otherwise, the veterans the Jazz are receiving here are strictly for contract matching purposes.

A reunion story with Burks is nice, but it doesn’t advance this team’s long-term goals. As far as they’re concerned, this deal is Robinson and a protected pick for Gobert.
Is that a deal they’d be willing to accept?
