If last year’s (annual) James Harden trade is a precedent, the answer may be at least seven first-round picks or swaps. Gilgeous-Alexander isn’t quite on The Beard’s level yet, but he’s substantially younger.

On the other hand, none of the picks that Brooklyn traded to Houston was the sixth overall selection. That’s automatically a better asset than any the Rockets received in that exchange. Is it worth four undetermined picks and/or pick swaps?

If the Thunder think so, they’ll accept this trade. On the other hand, they may insist on another pick or two.
