Dan Favale put together this hypothetical trade between the Portland Trail Blazers and Indiana Pacers over at Bleacher Report. He put a trade together for every team that didn’t make the 2022 NBA Finals, as both of these teams didn’t even qualify for the NBA Play-In Tournament.

These are two teams that had losing seasons during the 2021-22 campaign but are going in totally different directions.

Portland is looking for a quick turnaround after bottoming out last season. Indiana has accepted their reality of needing to rebuild and this trade is another step toward that.

Portland is receiving two players that can help them win as soon as next season in Malcolm Brogdon and Myles Turner. This roster needs help pretty much everywhere, so they will take on two very good players.

Eric Bledsoe, Keon Johnson, and two draft picks are heading back to Indiana. Bledsoe can be a veteran influence for a young Pacers squad, and his non-guaranteed contract needs to be guaranteed to make this work financially.

Johnson was a first-round pick in 2021 and would fit into the rebuild in Indiana, and was one of the most athletic players in the history of the NBA Combine. The two draft picks add even more assets to make a bigger move should the opportunity arise.

How does this trade impact each team? Let’s look at it from both of their perspectives, starting with the Trail Blazers.
