Indiana Pacers Receive: F Doug McDermott, F Devin Vassell
San Antonio Spurs Receive: C Myles Turner
This trade allows the Indiana Pacers to beef up their wing rotation while affording some breathing room to Isaiah Jackson and Jalen Smith.
The main draw here is Devin Vassell. At 21, he’s perfectly aligned with what ought to be a rebuilding timeline for the Pacers. He’s a versatile defender and a reliable floor-spacer as is, but his upside hints at a more dynamic offensive player.
On the other hand, Pacers president Kevin Pritchard swears this team is not rebuilding. At least, not in the long-term sense that they’ll stockpile draft capital at the expense of wins. With that in mind, Doug McDermott gives them one of the league’s best three-point weapons.
Still, let’s assume the Pacers are, at least to some extent, rebuilding. Vassell is a nice return for Turner, but they may decline this deal.

If another squad is knocking at their door with a first-round pick to spare, they may see more value in that. Perhaps adding a third team to the deal can help them acquire one.
