The Los Angeles Lakers would be sending Russell Westbrook and a pair of future first-round picks to the LA Clippers in exchange for Marcus Morris Sr., Luke Kennard, and Reggie Jackson.
Westbrook is entering the final year of his five-year, $206.8 million contract if he ends up exercising his $47.1 million player option. Given the circumstances, it’s borderline impossible to envision him making the decision to decline it.
The Clippers would be parting with two players in Kennard and Morris Sr. who still have multiple years remaining on their current contracts. Kennard is set to earn $13.8 million 2022-23 along with Morris Sr. at $16.4 million.
Jackson is set to play in the final year of his contract and will earn $11.2 million. The Lakers would hold his Bird rights next offseason — enabling them to exceed the salary cap to re-sign him if they desire.
