Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: C Nikola Vucevic, F Patrick Williams
Chicago Bulls Receive: G D’Angelo Russell, 2023 First-Round Pick (MIN), 2025 First-Round Pick (MIN)
If you were to design a frontcourt partner for Karl-Anthony Towns in a lab, you might come out with Patrick Williams.
The recent number four pick has been injury-prone throughout his young career, but he’s looked outstanding when he’s been on the floor. He’s an archetypical 3-and-D wing. With Towns having some shortcomings on the defensive end, Williams’ defensive versatility is a perfect complement.
On the other hand, acquiring Vooch doesn’t make a ton of sense for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He’d be one of the most overpaid and overqualified backup bigs in the league behind Towns. He’s here to make the money work.
The Bulls shouldn’t mind moving him. They likely weren’t impressed with his 2021-22 performance. With his three-point accuracy falling off a cliff, his own defensive deficiencies became particularly pronounced.

Perhaps by including a third team in the deal, the Bulls could address those shortcomings.
