Making the Case: Portland Trail Blazers

At this point, the Portland Trail Blazers are in full rebuilding mode and should be looking for a trade to land them a return for the future. A backcourt partner for Anfernee Simons like Tyrese Maxey would go a long way in establishing a solid foundation to build around.

It was expected that with both Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum out of the equation, Portland would fall to the bottom of the league. When a team underachieves for years, it is time to blow it up at some point, and that time could be coming for the Blazers.

The potential return players and draft capital should be enough for Portland to get this deal done. Tyrese Maxey took the next step this season and could be a future star the Trail Blazers could build around in the post-Lillard era.

If Damian Lillard does not plan on requesting a trade, there’s a case to be made for the front office to ultimately decide it’s best to go in a different direction.
