Chicago Bulls Receive: G Damian Lillard
The idea of Damian Lillard and Zach LaVine teaming up this summer is not a new one. The notion that they’d do so in Chicago is a little more novel.
After all, LaVine is an unrestricted free agent this summer. The Portland Trail Blazers have been a popular hypothetical destination for him. Furthermore, it feels like the expectation around the league is that the Blazers will retain Lillard.
At the same time, expectations are made to be challenged in the NBA. If the Blazers feel they’ve reached a ceiling with Lillard and ought to rebuild, shipping him to Chicago is as good of an outcome for them as any.
This package sees them landing a nice haul of draft capital. Granted, most of the picks they’re receiving are swaps, but they’re also landing the 24-year-old Lonzo Ball. He may not have Lillard’s shot creation abilities, but he’s a great 3-and-D guard with tremendous court vision.
