Both star guards could potentially find themselves changing teams this summer. The rumor mill would certainly suggest that Mitchell has grown tired of life in Salt Lake City. This deal has him taking his talents to South Beach.
If he truly pines for a bigger market, he’ll be content in Vice City. He’ll also land in a more competitive situation. Alongside Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, Mitchell will be part of one of the most talented trios in basketball.
Like the Wizards, the Jazz will have no interest in Westbrook. They’re willing to absorb his expiring contract for the draft capital. They’re getting an extra pick compared to the Wizards for parting with another quality veteran in O’Neale. Such a massive collection of picks is an excellent haul for a team that’s starting a rebuild.
