Washington Wizards Receive: F Harrison Barnes, G Eric Bledsoe, F Josh Hart, C Richaun Holmes, 2022 First-Round Pick (No. 4 – SAC), 2024 First-Round Pick (Swap – POR), 2025 First-Round Pick (MIL), 2026 First-Round Pick (POR)
Portland Trail Blazers Receive: G Bradley Beal, 2022 First-Round Pick (No. 10 – WAS)
If we were to describe this trade in one word, it would be “wow”. There is a lot to unpack here.
The Washington Wizards aren’t interested in any of the four veterans they’re acquiring here. They’d likely spend the 2022-23 season auditioning them for contenders up to the trade deadline, where they’d move them for more future-focused assets.
This deal, again, is about draft capital for them. They’re receiving one less pick from the Portland Trail Blazers because they’re landing the fourth overall pick in the upcoming draft. In all likelihood, they’d select Jaden Ivey, making for an instant replacement for Bradley Beal.
Meanwhile, the Sacramento Kings are making an interesting decision here. Is pairing Domantas Sabonis with Kristaps Porzingis wise? Did we not just see Sabonis fail to co-exist with the very similar Myles Turner?

These are fair concerns for a contender. The Kings are not one of those. They’re desperate to make the postseason in 2022-23. That’s a goal that Sabonis and Turner were able to accomplish.
If they’re desperate enough to get their at all costs, they’ll be willing to pay this one.
