D’Angelo Russell
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been intertwined in rumors surrounding Ben Simmons ever since he passed up a wide-open layup against the Atlanta Hawks in the 2021 NBA playoffs. After their first-round defeat at the hands of the Memphis Grizzlies, the Wolves have also entered D’Angelo Russell’s name in the rumor mill.
While he hasn’t been publicly placed on the chopping block, DLo certainly figures to be the odd man out within Minnesota’s young core. Between him, Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Jarred Vanderbilt, Russell is the most overpaid and the least irreplaceable.
The Brooklyn Nets, though, should savor a reunion with the talented shot creator and playmaker. D’Angelo Russell’s ability to orchestrate an offense and score in crunch time would have been a gamechanger against the Boston Celtics.
Not only would the Nets not have gotten swept with Russell’s penchant for making clutch plays on the roster, but they may also have emerged victorious in the series overall.

The Nets would still have a lot of holes on the roster after acquiring D’Angelo Russell but forming a triumvirate of top-tier talent in him, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving would certainly widen their margin for error.
After notching such a star-studded “Big 3,” Brooklyn could fill out the rest of their roster with their exceptions and veteran minimum deals and still be among the favorites to come out of the East.
