Why The Trade Benefits The Washington Wizards
There comes a time when all good things must come to an end. While this trade might not necessarily benefit the Washington Wizards on paper right away, it could be the best long-term decision for the front office.
Drafted in 2012, Bradley Beal has spent the duration of his career in D.C. Over the last few years, Washington snuck into the playoffs on certain occasions because of their star power. Despite having some strong duos at the top, the Wizards were never taken seriously as a threat because of their lack of depth.
Russell Westbrook was traded to Los Angeles and Kuzma came back in the deal, along with other pieces. Kristaps Porzingis was acquired from the Dallas Mavericks and all of a sudden, the Wizards have an interesting core to build around. Herro and Robinson are two young players that could produce right away.
After averaging a career-high 20.7 points per game, Herro has showcased plenty of potential ahead of needing a contract extension. Now would be the time for the Heat to capitalize on his trade value if that’s what ultimately they sought to do.

Washington wouldn’t be back in contention right away, but they would have a chance to get the right pieces in place to potentially fight for a playoff spot. Herro would be the central element of their efforts as they continue to build long-term.
