Detroit Pistons Receive: G/F Cam Reddish, F Obi Toppin, 2022 First-Round Pick (No. 11 – NYK)
New York Knicks Receive: C Kelly Olynyk, 2022 First-Round Pick (No. 5 – DET)
This deal finds the Pistons trading back to acquire two of the most intriguing young players on the Knicks’ roster.
Their interest in the deal will naturally rest on their assessment of both Reddish and Toppin. The former was once one of the most highly recruited high school basketball players in America. His professional career hasn’t gotten off to the hottest start, but at 22, he’s still got tremendous upside.
Meanwhile, Toppin started making good on his potential towards the end of 2021-22. He’s a two-way forward with an impressive combination of ball-handling, size, and mobility.
The Pistons may very well turn his deal down. They may be set on selecting between Shaedon Sharpe, Keegan Murray, Adrian Griffin Jr., and others with the fifth selection. Assuming, that is, Jaden Ivey is off the board.

On the other hand, they’ll love this deal if they have a target in mind who’s likely to fall to 10. In that event, both sides benefit from making this trade.
