Bad Option: John Wall
Like Collin Sexton, the last time we saw John Wall in action was 2020-21. He wasn’t hurt last year. His Houston Rockets simply didn’t want to play him.
OK, that sounds worse than it is. The Rockets are in the early stages of a rebuild. They opted to give John Wall’s reps to the significantly younger Kevin Porter Jr. We don’t really know what Wall has left in the tank, and that’s precisely the problem here.
He did look solid in 2020-21, averaging 20.6 points and 6.9 assists per game. On the other hand, it’s worth noting that his production came on the worst team in the NBA. Moreover, he shot a grisly 31.7% from long distance.
A contending team could justify taking a gamble on Wall if the Rockets buy him out. He’s intriguing as a low-risk, high-reward bet.
