Dallas Mavericks Receive: G Russell Westbrook, 2027 First-Round Pick
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: F Davis Bertans, G/F Tim Hardaway Jr. C Boban Marjanovic, G Sterling Brown, G Trey Burke
Russell Westbrook has just one year left on his contract where he is owed $47.0 million. For a team looking to shed some long-term salary, he could be an intriguing option to acquire in a trade.
The Mavericks would not be moving on from any of their projected starters in order to acquire Westbrook in this trade. They would also only be taking on $1.6 million in additional salary by packing all of their spare parts in this trade.
Davis Bertans and Tim Hardaway Jr. are two of the Mavericks’ worst contracts, but they would at least bring needed perimeter shooting to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The on-court fit for the Mavericks would be a tough sell. However, Westbrook did attempt to make it work with prime James Harden on the Houston Rockets and isn’t coming straight off his tenure with the Oklahoma City Thunder as an ultra-high usage threat.
