2. Deandre Ayton
It would be truly shocking if the Phoenix Suns allowed Deandre Ayton to leave this offseason as a restricted free agent. They have the ability to match any offer sheet that he may sign and he is an integral part of their success the last two seasons.
But, there seems to be a legitimate divide on how much he is worth. Ayton is seeking a max contract, but Suns ownership doesn’t believe he is worth that much. If an agreement cannot be worked out, the Hornets can benefit.
Charlotte would love to add the two-way Ayton to their lineup. He is only going to be 24-years old this offseason, so he fits the timeline with LaMelo Ball and would become the foundation of the franchise along with Miles Bridges.
Ayton would be a lot of fun to watch in Buzz City. His offense is developing every season, as he is an efficient scorer that can knock down shots out to mid-range right now. There is a real chance that he can develop 3-point range down the line given the progress he has made.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: This Big Hornets-Suns Trade Sends Deandre Ayton To Charlotte
Charlotte likes to get out into the open court and Ayton is just as comfortable doing that. Defensively, he has shown that he is more than capable of anchoring a unit and succeeding in numerous schemes.
The Hornets cannot outright sign Ayton, so a sign-and-trade deal would have to be worked out. If they sign him to a max offer sheet, there is a good chance that the No. 1 overall pick from the 2018 NBA Draft heads east.
