New Orleans Pelicans Receive: F Jonathan Isaac, 2022 First-Round Pick (No. 1 – ORL)
Orlando Magic Receive: F Zion Williamson
Here, the New Orleans Pelicans trade their former number one pick for the opportunity to, once again, select first overall in the NBA draft. As in life, things have a fall of coming full circle.
The Pelicans would likely be adding one of Chet Holmgren, Paolo Banchero, or Jabari Smith Jr with this transaction. Any would create advantages alongside Ingram.
Banchero profiles as an immediate Williamson replacement, while either Holmgren or Smith Jr. would improve this team’s floor spacing and defense from day one.
Meanwhile, Jonathan Isaac isn’t merely a throw-in. While he’s had his own struggles with health throughout his career to date, he’s looked the part of a perennial Defensive Player of the Year nominee when healthy. If he didn’t have liability concerns, he wouldn’t be included here. That would make for an unfair deal for Orlando.

Speaking of the Magic, they haven’t rostered a player with Williamson’s star power since at least Dwight Howard, if not Shaquille O’Neal. If Williamson gets healthy, he’ll have the opportunity to put this team back on the map.
It’s a big if. The Magic’s risk appetite may not be enough for them to consider this deal. At the same time, they may not be able to pass it up.
