Houston Rockets Receive: C Deandre Ayton
Phoenix Suns Receive: C Christian Wood, G Eric Gordon
In this deal, Houston and Phoenix would swap centers Deandre Ayton and Christian Wood, and the Rockets would throw in Eric Gordon as well.
This deal is pretty straightforward, and would likely benefit both teams. Eric Gordon, a long-time Rocket, might fit better on a contender than a young lottery-level team. His elite three-point shooting would make him a valuable floor-spacer for Phoenix. Houston meanwhile would be able to give his rotation spot to young talent they’d like to develop.
Ayton would be a nice fit in Houston next to young star Jalen Green. Ayton hasn’t had the opportunity to be the focal point of an offense before. He’d thrive in Houston, where he could have a chance to run the show.
Christian Wood would be a downgrade at center for Phoenix – but not by much. Wood has shown immense versatile offensive talent. He’s one of the NBA’s best outside-shooting bigs, hitting 39% of his threes this year.
