New York Knicks Receive: F/C Larry Nance Jr., G Garrett Temple
New Orleans Pelicans Receive: G Derrick Rose
Spoiler alert: there will be plenty of point guards in this article.
After all, the New Orleans Pelicans could use one. Their current rotation is solid but lacks a distinct starter. Devonte’ Graham is too defensively limited: Jose Alvarado is the opposite. The team gave C.J. McCollum reps at the position last year, but they’d probably like to return him to his more traditional off-guard spot.
Derrick Rose feels like a perfect solution. He’s become an elite floor spacer over the last two seasons. He can also run the offense for stretches where Williamson, Ingram, and McCollum need a break from primary initiating duties.
Meanwhile, the Knicks may be attracted to a versatile defensive player like Nance Jr. He feels like a Thibodeau acquisition. They also clear their books to an extent with this deal.

Nance Jr. is on an expiring contract, while Rose is committed for two more seasons. Temple’s deal is negligible. They gain some long-term flexibility here.
It’s unclear whether that’s what they’ll be after this summer. Few things in life are constant, but the Knicks being unpredictable is one of them.
