Why The Chicago Bulls Make The Trade
The Chicago Bulls make this trade because they’re getting the best player involved. That’s simple logic, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t legitimate.
With this deal, the Bulls could assemble one of the best offenses in the NBA. Of course, that’s contingent on them retaining pending free agent Zach LaVine. Even if they can’t, this trade might work for them.
After all, Irving is a suitable LaVine replacement. They’re not precisely similar, but their production is. Where LaVine uses his athletic gifts to generate buckets at will, Irving uses a generational combination of skill and craft. Either way, the Bulls enter the 2022-23 season with an offensive focal point.
This deal is unlikely to go down. The Bulls will probably want a surer thing if they’re parting with Williams, and the Brooklyn Nets probably want a sturdier veteran if they’re moving Irving. Still, we wouldn’t rule anything out.
