There are as many reasons for either side to consider this trade as there are for them to reject it outright.

The Chicago Bulls may be particularly apprehensive about parting with Williams. One could make the case that he’s the most valuable trade chip in this package.

Although he spent much of 2021-22 sidelined with an injury, he’s flashed immense potential to grow into an elite defender and high-end floor spacer over his first two seasons in the NBA.

On the subject of elite defense: Nikola Vucevic doesn’t play it. In fact, he’s poor in that area. The Bulls would be cutting ties with the big man here in favor of pursuing a lower-usage, rim-protecting center.

That may not be enticing to any Brooklyn Nets fans reading, but Vooch could hold particular value on this team. More on that later, for now, it’s worth noting that if the Nets were to put Irving on the trade market, this would be a great return for them.
