Charlotte Hornets Receive: C Steven Adams, G/F Dillon Brooks, F Brandon Clarke
Memphis Grizzlies Receive: F Miles Bridges, C Mason Plumlee

Admittedly, it would be surprising to see the Memphis Grizzlies make an overhaul of this magnitude. We just finished highlighting how successful of a 2021-22 season they had. Why make such a drastic change?

Well, they’re receiving Miles Bridges. He’s the best player involved in this deal. Which, of course, begs a second question: why would the Hornets trade him?

Realistically, they may not. On the other hand, this deal could make them better in 2022-23. They’re getting their center in Adams. They’re also getting a suitable Bridges replacement in Clarke and the new best defensive wing on their team in Brooks.

This trade makes them a deeper, more balanced group. If they made it, it would signal that they’re less interested in rebuilding for the future and more interested in getting competitive quickly. That could make them a more appealing destination for stars demanding trades, or free agents.
