1. New York Knicks
It just feels like the New York Knicks have been itching to trade for a star for too long. Eventually, they’ll have to succumb to temptation and start scratching.
Furthermore, the idea of a Tom Thibodeau-designed defense that’s anchored by Davis is intriguing. He’s already an elite defensive big. With Thibs’ tutelage, he might be able to take that part of his game to a new level.
In all likelihood, a package here would center around RJ Barrett and a couple of the Knicks’ outsized contracts. Barrett, Derrick Rose, Evan Fournier and a couple of first-round picks may suffice in getting a deal done.
This is a high-risk, high reward proposition for the New York Knicks. There are a lot of “if’s” involved. Still, if Julius Randle can recover from a disappointing 2021-22 season and find his 2020-21 form, and if Anthony Davis can get healthy, they’d make for a lethal frontcourt pairing.
