Making the Case: Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors are a win-now team and that has been clear for years now. As long as Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are healthy, Golden State is going to be right in the mix. Moving forward, trades will be determined when thinking about players that the Warriors believe are long-term options.
Harrison Barnes and Andrew Wiggins both have just one year left on their deal and this means the front office could have a decision to make. Wiggins took a bit of a step back once Thompson returned to the lineup given the fact that they play the same position. This is where the versatility of Barnes could play a factor.
Barnes spent the first four years of his career as a durable piece for the Warriors as they were building a championship team. It’s a role he could play once again. Barnes isn’t as impactful of a defender as Wiggins, but he’s a much cleaner fit offensively.

Golden State would get a cheaper player at this point as well. After earning a bid as an All-Star starter, the price tag for Wiggins just went up significantly. Harrison Barnes is still worth it to have on the roster but would come with a lesser contract.
The front office for the Golden State Warriors is used to making big moves in the offseason and this could be another one that reshapes the roster moving forward.
