Minnesota Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves are a young team on the upswing. In some ways, they’re reminiscent of the Phoenix Suns before they signed Chris Paul. They may be a star veteran away from true title contention.
Damian Lillard could be that star veteran.
D’Angelo Russell, the Wolves’ current floor general, is talented. He also utterly collapsed in this year’s playoffs. It’s fair to wonder whether upgrading at that position could take this team to new heights. Damian Lillard, even at his advanced age, would be a significant upgrade.
In all likelihood, Russell would be sent to Portland to make a deal happen. A straight Russell for Lillard swap won’t sway the Blazers, though. The Wolves would have to unload a clip of draft capital to make this a reality.
