Charlotte Hornets Receive: C Mo Bamba (Sign & Trade), G Devin Cannady
Orlando Magic Receive: F Gordon Hayward, 2024 First-Round Pick (CHA)
Again, the Charlotte Hornets swap Hayward and their ’24 first-rounder for a floor-spacing, rim-protecting big man. It’s a smart play, so we’re going back to it.
Besides, Bamba has the added bonus of being on the same developmental timeline as Ball and Miles Bridges. At 23, he’s about to hit restricted free agency. This would have to be a sign and trade.
Bamba had the best season of his young career in 2021-22. He averaged 10.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game while shooting 38.1% from three-point range. He’d be absolutely perfect with these Hornets.
As for the Magic, they’re swapping him for the first-round pick. They don’t need Hayward. They’ll probably look to find a new home for him, or consider a buy-out.

If the rumor mill is to be trusted, they’re not interested in investing in Bamba at this early stage in their rebuild.
With this trade, they at least get something in return for the big man.
