Let’s make one thing clear: there is no trade that lands Rudy Gobert in Golden State that doesn’t move Andrew Wiggins.
The Golden State Warriors won’t be moving any of their big 3 of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, or Draymond Green. Their corporate knowledge is essential to the team’s immediate success. They’ve also got nobody else on the books who matches Gobert’s money.
The Warriors will miss Wiggins, but not enough to pass on Gobert. Again, the defense they’d be forming here should be historically elite. If they intend to pursue an NBA championship, this feels like a great means to that end.
As for the Utah Jazz, they’re probably more interested in Wiseman if they’re moving Mitchell in a separate deal. The former number-one pick has disappointed in his brief NBA career. He’s still got potential as a rim-protecting big who offers a semblance of floor spacing.
