Making the Case: Indiana Pacers

The Indiana Pacers would hit an immediate home run if they can get this deal done. This is a franchise that has taken many steps back over the years after a decade of competing in the Eastern Conference.

The Pacers had a bit of a fire sale at the NBA trade deadline — moving on from Domantas Sabonis and Caris LeVert. Now, the team has Tyrese Haliburton along with a premier pick in the 2022 NBA Draft to work with, pending the results of the lottery.

Mitchell is the type of player that can get Indiana back into postseason contention once again. He’s the type of aggressive scorer Haliburton needs as his backcourt partner given he’s a pass-first guard.

Mitchell can do it all on the floor and he has shown that year in and year out, averaging 25.9 points per game this season and 23.9 for his career. With a stretch-big in Myles Turner, he would have far more spacing than playing alongside Rudy Gobert, too.
