Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: C Alperen Sengun, G Kevin Porter Jr., C Christian Wood, G Eric Gordon, 2024 First-Round Pick (BKN), 2026 First-Round Pick (BKN)
Houston Rockets Receive: C Karl-Anthony Towns
This trade probably depends on how the Minnesota Timberwolves view Alperen Sengun.
Some observers will tell you that with his prodigious passing vision and footwork, he’s a star in the making. Others will say that due to his limited length and foot speed, he’s a career reserve.
Of course, their view of Kevin Porter Jr. is relevant too. He has all the physical tools to be a star, but he’s been prone to outbursts of anger since before his pro career started. Time will tell whether he can overcome that obstacle.
Otherwise, the Timberwolves still walk away with two first-round picks. While Gordon is a pure salary matcher, Wood is actually a good Towns proxy. He is, similarly, a knock-down stretch big man who struggles on defense.

We repeat: these trades will not happen. We simply like to explore every angle. If the Timberwolves surprisingly moved on from Towns, the Houston Rockets would make for an interesting trade partner.
For fans of both organizations, it’s something to think about.
