Brooklyn Nets Receive: G Spencer Dinwiddie, G Tim Hardaway Jr., 2024 First-Round Pick
Dallas Mavericks Receive: G/F Ben Simmons
Brooklyn Nets fans will not be pleased with this package. It will mean that, in the aggregate, they traded James Harden for Spencer Dinwiddie, Tim Hardaway Jr., and three first-round picks.
Spoiler alert: the second package is not considerably different.
Those are the breaks when a star demands a trade. However, this deal does help the Nets in a few ways. In bringing Dinwiddie back, they’re acquiring a strong secondary ball-handler to assist Kyrie Irving.
Meanwhile, Tim Hardaway Jr. is an outstanding floor-spacer who should be a vital cog in this offense. If he returns to health, the Nets will have better floor balance following this trade.

Again: this is not what Nets fans want. We’re well aware. The harsh reality is that they may not get what they want. Until Simmons can get on the court and produce, his trade value is at an all-time low.
For that reason, the second trade proposal here is not going to wow Brooklyn Nets fans either.
