Los Angeles Lakers Receive: G Reggie Jackson, G Luke Kennard, F Marcus Morris Sr.
LA Clippers Receive: G Russell Westbrook, 2027 First-Round Pick (LAL)
Unlike with the last deal, we’re not sure what motivates the Clippers here. We see two possibilities.
The first is roughly the same as Philly’s: a buyout. In that case, they’re doing this deal to clear cap space. They’re getting a first-round pick because the package they’re giving up is more valuable than the one the 76ers would be.
The second is that there could be a world where the Clippers want Westbrook for basketball. They could use a point guard. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are not the same ball-dominant stars that James is.
The only potential fit issue arises between Westbrook and starting big man Ivica Zubac. Generally, Westbrook is maximized alongside a stretch big man.

The Clippers could seek one out at a discount. They could also get really crazy. Would the Pacers bite on Zubac and the Lakers’ 2027 First-Round Pick in exchange for Myles Turner? Say what you will about Westbrook’s on-court impact: a lineup of him, Powell, George, Kawhi, and Turner stands to break basketball itself.
Of course, none of this is likely. The Clippers are already title contenders. They’d probably be hesitant to rock the boat. Still, if they wish to dream big, this could be something to consider.
